Stage 4 Science And Engineering Challenge

On Wednesday 20th March, the Year 8.1 Science class ventured to the TRECC to compete in the Stage 4 day of the Science and Engineering Challenge. The students’ tried their best to replicate the success of the Year 10 team the day prior, working collaboratively to design wind turbines, build towers to support weights, communicate and decode coloured lasers, timetable and construct planes and bridges out of bulsa wood.

At the score-check, after lunch, it was revealed that Farrer had a narrow lead, pushing the students to persevere as they swapped activities for the final session. Some outstanding scores were obtained in the second session with Elias Watt, Ned McDonald and Sam Rodgers proved themselves to be the ultimate timetabling team in “Job Juggle” and the bridge team of Jaxon Waugh, Ethan Walker, Cody Simpson and Will Rees building an ultralight structure that could support a trolley weighing over 5kg.

Congratulations to all students who participated on a fantastic outcome.
