The Farrer Annual Angus Bull Sale took place yesterday, Wednesday 26th June. We were unsure how the sale would perform this year with the cattle market being on a decline and the prolonged drought conditions in many areas of the state. Buyer numbers were lower than last year, with 22 registered bidders at the sale and 5 registered bidders online via Auctionsplus.
The Certificate III Beef students presented themselves in a very professional manner and exhibited gusto and enthusiasm in each task assigned to them. All members of the public were extremely complimentary of their efforts and our facilities. This year's sale saw the top price bull reach $6000 going to Sara Park Angus Stud of Glen Innes, with a sale average $3251. A number of repeat buyers were once again present along with several new buyers. Mr Marty Peeters, Stud Manager, would like to thank all of the students who encouraged their parents to attend the sale and registered to purchase bulls.
Mr Peeters would like to sincerely thank and congratulate the Certificate III Beef students, farm staff, ancillary staff and Ag staff for all the tireless hours that went into preparing the cattle for the sale and to thank all of the successful bidders and under bidders for their support and encouragement of our annual bull sale. We look forward to the 2020 season.
