Farrer March to their own Drum ANZAC Day is marked as a special day in our school calendar and, despite ongoing COVID-19 restrictions within the community, Farrer held an ANZAC Day school assembly on Thursday 22nd April. Our student body, who had been practicing marching since February, displayed their skills by marching to the assembly, accompanied by our drummers. On ANZAC Day our three School Captains laid a wreath at the Dawn Service in ANZAC Park which was at the request of the Tamworth RSL Branch. Each year a local school is chosen by them to perform this ceremonial act on behalf of all schools within the Tamworth region, and this year it was Farrer’s turn. Our Year 12 students were very disappointed that they were unable to lead the school in the Tamworth ANZAC Day March, for their final year, but were grateful that they were still able to be represented at the Dawn Service and be involved in an assembly and march at school. We would like to thank all students who attended local ANZAC Day events in their home towns and their efforts will be acknowledged with a Community Service Award. Also, thank you to those parents who sent in photographs of their son’s participating in these events. Let’s all now look forward to attending ‘normal’ ANZAC Day commemorative events in 2022.
