World's Greatest Shave 2023

Over the past 12 years, our Farrer senior boys’ groups have now raised an impressive $280,000 for the Leukaemia Foundation to help find a cure, provide vital research, improve the quality of life and provide emotional support for people and families facing the challenges of blood cancers.

Last year alone, the Farrer Year 12 boys raised a staggering $52,365 during their World’s Greatest Shave campaign. Continuing the tradition and with clippers at the ready, the 2023 Farrer seniors are preparing to shave off their creative eye-catching hair styles.  This year we have students and staff participating with beard and head shave combos, full body wax and staff and student duo leg shaves!

It’s a fun event with a serious message- to shine a light and raise much needed funds for the Leukaemia Foundation. Every day, 47 Australians are diagnosed with a form of blood cancer, which is one Aussie every 31 minutes. Those numbers are extraordinary, and this year’s cohort aims to raise greater awareness of the disorder.

On Tuesday 7 March, Farrer's class of 2023 will follow suit from their predecessors to participate in The World's Greatest Shave 2023.

You can donate to the boys’ fundraising efforts here.  All proceeds go to the Leukaemia Foundation.

In addition, Farrer is running an online auction throughout March and April 2023 with thanks to Year 12 students James Sweeney and his father Mr Mathew Sweeney for setting up the auction platform for 2023. Some  generously donated by our community includes accommodations, hampers, painting, esky, fishing pack and more.  To partipipate in the auction, please register and bid for the items through https://auction.regional.community/

Farrer school Principal Clint Gallagher also put his own locks on the line to help the senior boys reach their initial target to raise $20,000 which grow dramatically. “I’m happy to support the World’s Greatest Shave, the students get a kick out of me getting a buzz cut. Well done to everyone involved. Thanks to you we exceed our target due to our enthusiastic family of fundraisers”.
