Head Teacher TAS
Bachelor of Education - Industrial Arts (Technology).
Eric has been a teacher for over 31 years. In that time he taught Technology & Applied Studies (TAS) subjects in two large comprehensive high schools at Broken Hill and in Tamworth, prior to being appointed at Farrer in 2012. He has also worked in a regional role as a Vocational Education Officer. In 2010, Eric was awarded a New England Schools, Excellence in Education Award for classroom practice and his involvement in the development of the Trade Training Submission for Tamworth High School.
Eric’s main educational interest is to support and encourage the development of skills and knowledge in each student to effectively embrace and use technology in preparation for work or further studies.
After commencing at Farrer as a classroom teacher, Eric was later appointed as Head Teacher of TAS. Eric made significant contributions in the development of the new Farrer TAS Facility. His extensive teaching experience in TAS enabled him to provide input during the planning phase to help determine the initial building floor plan, workshop sizes, and placement of equipment to make the facility an effective and functional learning space for the students at Farrer.
Eric has been involved in providing significant additional access time for students into the workshops after school to major project development, he has been an ODAS Southern Excursion organiser, he is also involved in clay target and rifle shooting as extracurricular activities. Eric enjoys photography, and has captured many moments at school, be it carnivals, workshop activities, sporting events or excursions. Much of the aerial photography of Farrer has been captured by Eric using a drone.
